Tergeo Technologies careers
Tergeo Technologies Inc is a new robotics company focusing on robotic solutions to everyday problems. It is cofounded by James Brodovsky (CEO) and Reza Rastegar (CTO).
Robotics has been making great technical progress over the past decades in delivering greater degrees of autonomy. Certainly, many industrial processes have been automated and robotized and the capabilities of autonomous vehicles are creeping into the lives of most people. However, we have yet to see wholesale use of robots in our everyday lives. We found ourselves ask why.
When you look at the state of the technology, most autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) are designed for performing a single very specific task. This makes most AGVs high-cost low-versatility machines that provide value only in their ability to out-perform human labor by sheer bulk output, by performing with better unit economics, or some combination.
One specific area we see this crop up is in litter management and surface and street cleaning. Automation is taking over cleaning in non-complex structured environments where autonomous robots can perform better than human workers. Namely: in warehouses and offices and in the street with self-driving street sweepers ranging from large to small.
Notably, this leaves out smaller human-scale areas that are currently cleaned manually such as sidewalks, park paths, and pedestrian plazas. These areas are automation resistant because of the additional obstacles present (people, benches, restaurant tables) with less room to maneuver. Tergeo Tech addresses this problem by providing a modular and flexible robotic system that augments and automates much of the sidewalk cleaning process while matching the versatility of a human worker.
