TagDates is the 1st free online dating and chatting social network based solely on hashtags
The app's core, the contact discovery function,Tag Roulette, has been compared to the core feature of the popular online dating application Tinder, but it differentiates itself from its competitors through the shift of focus from external appearance to inner beauty and creativity, as users who play the Tag Roulette are merely indicating their interests in other users' hashtag and not on their profile pictures.
On July 15th, 2014, INGY released a spin-off version of TagDates to the iTunes store named "TagDates - Blind". The blind edition takes away the factor of appearance and allows users to shine through their hashtags. Only after the user made a choice can the profile picture of the opponent be revealed.
In late October 2014, TagDates and TagDates - Blind have been optimized for iOS 8 and iPhone 6/6 Plus while still supporting devices with iOS 6 or up.
