‘Get rich quick’ doesn’t work with language learning. Made-up examples are designed to be easy to understand, but exist in isolation. Apps like Duolingo offer immediate gratification, but don’t bring learners closer to using language spontaneously. Private tutors are inconsistent and costly. Sygmatic is based on using pre-existing content made by and for native speakers because it’s unfiltered; that means learners get an insider's view into the communication and culture of another language. To do all of this, we're working to integrate verbatim transcriptions with sound waveforms to track emotion and personality output of speech. Our goal is to generate a Myers-Briggs type profile for learners so they can translate their personality into another language without feeling constrained by another culture and social norms.
