Sustainable Ventures (“SV”) works with investors, entrepreneurial managers and partners to originate and grow new businesses. Led by commercial insight rather than traditional technology-push venturing, the existing portfolio spans connected cars, circular economy, energy efficiency, e-mobility and smart home applications. Alongside a commitment to developing businesses that exploit emerging opportunities for low carbon technologies, SV is increasingly interested in opportunities surrounding the ‘internet of things’, big data analytics and artificial intelligence. Since inception in 2011 the company has acquired deep expertise of the venture development process, the management team having established 15 ventures to date, attracting <£250million in equity commitments, and in 2015 achieving the UK’s first successful crowdfunded venture exit with the sale of E-Car Club (the UK's first fully electric car club) to Europcar.
