To start, some important context. There’s an Airbnb-for-cars called Turo. Turo has a competitor called Getaround. These Airbnbs-for-cars, Turo and Getaround, have motivated thousands of entrepreneurial people to buy fleets of cars, ranging in size from 3 to 300 cars, and start impromptu car rental businesses. I know because I’m one of them: I currently own and rent 10 cars on both Turo and Getaround. Turo has raised $187MM and Getaround has raised $403MM. In other words, these are pretty big, serious, growing businesses with hundreds of thousands of cars listed for rent on their platforms. StreetSmarts is a product that helps these entrepreneurial people manage and grow their fleets. For example, when a renter books a car on Turo, StreetSmarts blocks that car’s calendar on Getaround. StreetSmarts also sends automated messages to renters; automatically detects and requests reimbursements for tolls, tickets, and excess mileage; automatically posts renter reviews; automatically unlocks and locks cars for renters based on customizable triggers; and a few other things that fleet owners have asked for and that we’ve built.
