Solu is a social benefit organisation that aims to re-configure the waste-management space in developing nations with incentive driven, market-making technology. Waste is a real problem in developing countries causing serious health, environmental and societal issues, with 30+% of waste created never collected and waste generation increasing exponentially year on year. Solu promises to solve this issue by replacing the inefficient door-to-door, street-to-street collection services that currently exist - by attaching a real, monetary value to waste, encouraging citizens to collect, segregate and sell the waste they generate/pick. We have considerable backing from both national and municipal governments in the Philippines and from influential NGOs. We'll be launching in a city in Metro Manila at the end of August. We've won numerous business competitions and are well-backed. As an early stage start-up, there's a lot of work to be done but we have a clear vision, some excellent talent and key stakeholders already on board. We have an aggressive timeline and roadmap for the coming months but we think there's real value in Solu and are keen to spread it as fast as we can.
