At Solar4Schools, we want to make solar energy affordable for schools in Kenya and other developing countries and build systems that meet their needs. Our solution includes an innovative payment approach that allows schools to self-finance the solar system and even generate additional income.

And this is how it works:

First, the school rents a solar-powered and automated mobile charging station from us. People can charge their phone battery 24/7 and pay via mobile payment. Once the school has collected enough income, it will receive the complete solar system which provides enough energy for lights, computers and other devices. Eventually, as the schools keeps generating revenue from the charging station, it can upgrade to a bigger, more powerful system.

Our solution makes schools energy-secure, helps them improve the quality of education and can reduce their carbon emissions by up to 91%, while also improving the phone charging experience for local communities.
