Sensilk is a smart clothing company, initially focused on fitness and wellness market. The addressable market for
wearable technologies specific to smart apparels in fitness and wellness is estimated to reach $2.3B by 2017 (IHS Electronics & Media, 2013).

Pain:  Today’s wearable technologies are bulky, uncomfortable to wear, require charging and not all-weather proof – not suitable for integrating into apparels.  Most wearable devices are abandoned after a few months.  For fitness and wellness, the sensors and applications lack granular fitness analytics (e.g. continuous heart rate monitoring function) and incentives to drive behavior change (fitness & wellness).
