The web is supposed to bring out the best in us: limitless insights, productive collaboration, collective problem solving and sense making.

Yet on existing consumer platforms, discussions are dominated by a deluge of noise that is loud but not substantive, viral but not constructive. People are dragged into popularity contests instead of collaboration. Trust is gradually eroded, and it’s easy to feel we’re all wasting our time online.

The web doesn’t have to be this way, and we believe that we can design a place on the web where large-scale collaboration for productive discourse and knowledge building is possible.

Our team consists of experienced, independent designers, engineers, scientists, communicators, on a mission to build a more collaborative and trustworthy web. We are geographically distributed across South and Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

We have worked across for-profits, non-profits, academia, government, and global tech companies, with combined multi-decade experience in large-scale software engineering, machine learning, and consumer products.

Over the past 3 years, we have gradually evolved from a small tight-knit team conducting research on the online landscape, discourse and trust modeling, and incentive-compatible behavioral mechanism design, to full-fledged product development and go-to-market teams preparing to open up Sembly to the world.
