Rugged Communications offers an innovative approach to telecommunications. We apply the principles of development work to install and maintain solar-powered telecommunications systems for rural people in developing countries. Our approach depends upon strong relationships with rural communities and on-the-ground partners, like The Floating Doctors in Panama. These relationships allow us to understand appropriate solutions for each location and to possess the logistical arrangement to properly maintain the systems. In doing so, we extend the coverage area of large telecommunications operators to areas without competition, that they don't have the capacity, personnel, or local relationships to service.
