We are Janice and Mike, the cofounders of Researchable and PhD chemists. We are ACTIVELY looking for a software engineer with AI experience to join us in building an LLM that is fluent in chemistry. While LLMs are competent with textual chemical notations (SMILES, InChI, IUPAC, etc.), they struggle to interpret visual images of chemical structures. Chemical structure images are the natural language of chemists, and a wealth of information is encoded in this format. Without the ability for LLMs to understand the visual language of chemistry, $1T+ industries, including biopharma and specialty chemicals, will fall behind in the new AI era. Our proof-of-concept application is an AI-powered software that digitizes written chemical structures and text into a searchable database. The 100+ potential customers we have shown this product to, including chemists in industry and academia, are thrilled to finally have access to AI that can interpret chemical structures. Their feedback has also confirmed that what we have here is more than just a notebook digitization tool; we have a blueprint for building the first LLM that truly works for chemistry! And we want you to help us build it! Our ideal candidate has expertise in LLM development and deep learning for optical recognition.
