Employment social enterprises (ESEs) are businesses with an explicit social purpose - to provide paying jobs combined with training and services to people striving for a better future.

ESEs employ people whose talents and skills are often overlooked. Their life experiences - like homelessness and incarceration - are stigmatized, and for many, structural racism creates additional barriers to employment.

REDF builds the field by providing funding and capacity building services, developing entrepreneurial leaders, and advocating for greater investment to help employment social enterprises increase their impact and grow.
