The current interaction between businesses and consumers has not evolved on a par with the needs of the new connected consumer. Traditional reward programs only benefit the buyer and retailer - there’s no built-in-virality. Businesses are currently limited to using cash back/points loyalty programs to reward one consumer at a time and intrusive ad-based campaigns to interact with consumers digitally. It is not possible for consumers to obtain, and share with friends, purchase benefits. Making money by social influence is a game of only a group of people, but millennials are not making money because of his influence with his friends.
