The fundamental number that dominates all professional trading floors is "PnL": profit less loss - typically since the beginning of the trading day. The way it changes and what its sensitive to allow calculation of the traders financial risk. On traditional finance trading floors there is always a PnL and risk system front and centre of the trader's desktop. When it fails, trading stops. ProfitView started when two trading floor professionals realised that crypto had no such professional tool. Traders they spoke to found themselves having to use spreadsheets and Python scripts to hack together PnL numbers as best they could. Often they got it wrong! It was frustrating, error-prone and distracting from their actual trading. PnL is post-trade - it doesn't contribute to your alpha! ProfitView's idea is to do it once, for everyone: we can be the front-office technology department for the whole industry. We cover centralised exchanges, DEXes, borrower/lenders, custodians, DeFi smart-contracts and have a system for traders to add bespoke trades if they provide a mark price. Portfolio managers can also see performance across trading teams. Funds of funds can compare their investments in a neutral, unified way. The interface can even be shown to end clients - say, by a wealth managers in private banks. ProfitView can be white-labelled for this purpose. The data can thence contribute to an ecosystem of usages. E.g. if you supply your accountant with a ProfitView API key, they can do your taxes. Others will do deep analysis of your historical PnL. Usages will evolve and expand. Fully anonymized, the resulting database of trading behaviour can be used for analysis, market signals and other purposes.
