Pongo is reimagining the way we pay for veterinary care. We set out on this mission to try to keep pets out of shelters. A major reason pets wind up in shelters is because their owners cannot afford their veterinary care and have to reluctantly surrender their beloved pet. Currently, many shelters are overcrowded and have no choice but to euthanize their oldest residents, even if they are completely healthy. Over 2 million healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized each year due to overcrowding. Pongo wants to help fix this. By empowering veterinarians to provide more affordable options, we will help keep pets out of shelters due to unaffordable veterinary care. We could save almost 50% of those 2 million pets euthanized each year.
