The year of 2021 no doubt will be remembered as the year of NFT in the crypto world, and “NFT '' has even become Collins Dictionary’s word of the year for 2021. Having said this, NFT still have some main challenges towards mass adoption. This market is still immature, though we are seeing some of the big institutions staring to enter this sectors; when people talk about NFTs, they often refer to the underlying assets such as PFP pictures, this is mainly the trading focus of the current market, but an NFT encompass two sections, other than the underlying asset, there are limited utility and purpose driven NFTs in terms of the token itself being non-fungible nature. There is is liquidity issue, besides buying and selling, NFT owners have limited approach to monetize their collections, most NFT assets are basically sleeping in people’s Web 3.0 wallets waiting for appreciation. Yet again, there is very high gas fee involved in the minting and transaction of NFTs, Ethereum currently is still leading, though we are seeing other layer one or layer two NFT markets are picking up the steam, such as Solana and Polygon. The last but not the least is that there is no consensual value, the value of which mainly depends on community hype and subject to great manipulation.
