Playpickup.org is a new social media platform focused on helping players and organizers of recreational sporting events better organize and operate their events. As avid recreational athletes, we were constantly frustrated with the difficulty of finding, organizing, and participating in casual sporting events. Simple questions like: Where is the game? Did the time or location change? How many are playing? Does the organizer need to collect fees? …were hard to answer and track. So, we built Playpickup.org to do for recreational sports what Uber did for personal transportation and Airbnb did for vacation rentals.

The recreational sports market is massive. Casual sporting events happen every day and night across the world with millions of recreational athletes participating. The word “Pickup” in our brand name describes events that occur on a regular basis but are not affiliated with a structured organization or league. Common examples are: soccer games in the park on weekends, or basketball games at the company court during lunch, or touch football games behind the high school every other Sunday. These types of sporting events are common all over the world and despite their casual appearances, require time and effort to organize and operate.

Currently organizers and players are defaulting to social media sites, texts, emails, phone calls, and online spreadsheets to organize pickup games. All these options lack the efficiency and robust features that are needed to optimize the process. As players and organizers of sporting events we know the plethora of time consuming, repetitive tasks required to make a game happen, so we created a platform to make it simple.

PlayPickup.org unites the worldwide population of recreational athletes by providing a simple to use, feature rich communication platform to discover, organize, manage, and better enjoy their recreational sporting lives.
