PaintJet aims to consolidate the market for painting large, uniform buildings. We do this by offering significantly lower pricing through our network of robot enabled painting contractors. Our patent-pending technology produces projects at a fraction of the cost of traditional labor, solves a critical labor supply shortage and brings innovation to the industry for the first time in over 60 years. Despite a global construction boom, the number of skilled painters increased only 6% between 2014-2018, compared to 33% for all other skilled trades. This misalignment has created a shortage of ~50k commercial painters, leading to all-time high project costs and timeline delays. Not only is the industry losing over $6B in revenue each year due to this shortage, end customers are incurring $100B more in costs associated with long-term damage to unprotected surfaces. With labor comprising 60-80% of project costs, improving labor productivity is a strategic imperative for the commercial and industrial painting industry.
