Organiz is the culmination of decades of experience with volunteer work and grassroots organizing. Over 25 years I've participated in all sorts of decentralized community-based groups and efforts, and there's a common pain point that anyone participating in such groups will instantly recognize - decision making in a community of equals without strong hierarchy is HARD! From parent-teacher organizations to grassroots activists, youth sports to union drives, friction between volunteers on the way to consensus around a common vision drives burnout faster than anything else. By making collaborative decisioning easy, Organiz will take the pain out of organizing and help groups spend their energy on accomplishing their shared missions. The company we are building will follow the ethos of the decentralized low-hierarchy customers we serve. As a fully remote democratically run worker-owned cooperative, we face many of the same challenges as our customers and will be well positioned to understand their pain points and deliver real solutions. Being structured this way - with the majority of our equity owned by our team instead of investors - also means that we will be free to pursue our vision and mission, instead of having to squeeze every ounce of profit out of our users and degrade the experience in the process. And, of course, once we are profitable that profit sharing will go to our worker-owners. This company is not for everyone and that's ok! Our ethos, mission, and even structure are different from the vast majority of startups. But if you're looking for something a bit different, it might be the place for you.
