Our goal is to make it easier for people to make their product. If you make 100 units a year, you can make it yourself. If you make 100k a year, you hire a factory. But in between, it's impossible. There are little to no methods for companies in between these scales. Opulo builds tools and services that enables people to make their product at this in-between scale, giving them a stepping stone between prototype and mass production. Innovation in manufacturing has been almost exclusively directed towards mass-production, which isolates folks that are not yet at that scale. Traditionally folks were forced to take a huge gamble on a Contract Manufacturer contract, and hope they sell what they signed up to build. With mid-scale, you can grow your production linearly with interest, and validate your hardware idea without having to sign a risky and expensive factory contract. We dogfood our products. We use our machines to fabricate our machines, so we intimately understand what it means to use our products, and what's the most important thing to be working on. We are completely open-source. Everything we make is open, and we consider our community in every decision. We make our products in house. A change to the design on Tuesday means that machines that ship Thursday will include your update. We release hardware like software.
