Yarden - Founders Story
Like many Americans, Jason Coleman struggled to make healthy decisions about his diet. As a young adult he developed some health issues, including signs of type 2 diabetes. Wanted to improve his health, so he dramatically changed his diet to include almost all fruits and vegetables.
Inspired by his new-found lifestyle, Jason started doing research into the link between vegetable gardening and weight loss. He was disappointed at the lack of technologies and innovation within the garden industry given its popularity. He was also shocked by the number of homeowners that start a garden and fail every year. So he set out on a mission to connect gardeners to homeowners using modern technology to ensure garden success.
In pursuit of building the perfect startup, Jason started searching for a capable co-founder. While staying at an Airbnb in Oakland, CA - Jason met a travelling software engineer named Isaac Grey. The two quickly became friends over their love of innovative, game-changing tech. One day, Jason shared his vision with Isaac on how we wanted to leverage technology to help people grow the garden of their dreams. But because Isaac was travelling and was only planning on staying in the Bay Area temporarily, he kindly declined a partnership with Jason and carried on like normal. However, a seed had been planted in Isaac’s mind, and he couldn’t shake the idea. The next day, he went to Jason and said “We have to build this”.
