As a Linux Engineer for the National Weather Service Alaska Region, I was responsible for maintaining and deploying Linux and storage infrastructure in support of the NWS mission to provide timely and accurate weather data and forecasts for the Alaska Region. This included designing a modern internal cloud based on OpenStack and managing migration to this platform, orchestrating deployments and security (FISMA/NIST 800-53) compliance using Ansible, managing multi-site NetApp environments, and integrating Linux authentication into Active Directory infrastructure using Centrify. I also worked to augment NWS operations and development with new technologies: CI/CD using Jenkins and RhodeCode integration, ELK-stack data visualization, and reworking legacy development efforts into a new sustainable DevOps-like framework.
