National Education Association (NEA) is a professional organization and labor union in the United States, representing public school teachers and other support personnel, faculty and staffers at colleges and universities, retired educators, and college students who are preparing to become teachers. The organization is committed to advancing the cause of public education and focused on the promotion of public education and the teaching profession. It has 3.2 million members and affiliate organizations in every state and in more than 14,000 communities across the United States. National Education Association was founded in 1857 and is based in Washington, District of Columbia.
