People at Narrativ

This will break down into 3 parts: 1) What's our core source of edge 2) Who are the people in the business today 3) Personal anecdotes / things that people in the team today like to do 1) What's our core source of edge? The co-founders of Narrativ, Ben Gottdiener and Rapolas Binkys, started their careers off at Bain & Company as strategy consultants, then went to Bain Capital to learn an investing toolkit. They've gotten an education in 1) How to set the strategy at a high level for a business 2) How to break down that strategy into manageable chunks of work and 3) Think about the resources required to invest in that work. As a result, the core edge of the business is commercializing technology, not necessarily building cutting edge solutions (though we think we are doing that too). 2) Who are the people in the business today? The people in the business today are just the co-founders: Ben Gottdiener and Rapolas Binkys. Outside of their experiences at Bain & Co and Bain Capital, both have some unique elements that align them to their CEO and CTO roles respectively. Ben spent a year acting as a product manager for Bain & Company's in-house merger integration tool, Signal. He took the product from the ideation stage through lo-fi and hi-fi designs, UAT, then the first set of pilots. Rapolas in college worked at several NLP startups, then began a business (in which he was the primary technical lead) designing games for the Amazon Echo / Google Home. He sold that business to volleythat.com before getting his strategy toolkit from Bain & Company 3) Personal anecdotes Ben: Likes powerlifting, building computers, going down YouTube rabbit holes, listening to audiobooks (something he's done since he was 5 when they were tapes) and podcasts Rapolas: Likes rock climbing, building terrariums / aquariums, using his hands to build new things They're also both nerds about several things not listed here, including ML and AI broadly.
