Books have been the most effective agents for spreading knowledge and culture over centuries, around the world. Today, Indian regional languages are impoverished due to lack of books that reflect contemporary ideas and knowledge. And, the vast majority of Indians who speak and read regional languages are unable to keep up with times due to scarcity of books that cover the breadth and depth of today’s collective human understanding and imagination. We wanted to change this with MyLang by creating a modern eco-system for publishing in Indian regional languages, (focusing on Kannada first). We have leveraged digital distribution mechanisms and adopted best practices from global publishing companies in the pursuit of this vision. MyLang was launched as a digital publishing platform in 2020. In two year's time, we have successfully onboarded 150+ publishing partners, over 500+ authors and over 2000+ eBooks, audiobooks and audiostories on the platform. The users of the platform can discover, try, buy, read/listen to a vast collection of Kannada ebooks, audiobooks and audio-stories using MyLang mobile app. MyLang wants to drive the digital transformation journey of content in as many Indian languages as possible in the future creating access, new market possibilities for writers, creators and publishers from small towns and villages. Pavaman Athani and Vasant Shetty have co-founded MyLang.
