Since being acquired in 2014 by a group of investors including the CEOs of The Related Companies and Equinox, it has successfully undertaken multi-year, major expansions in both New York and Chicago, and more recently launched BIKETOWN in Portland. Going forward, Motivate has committed to growing the San Francisco system tenfold by 2018--from 700 to 7,000 bikes--and is working towards new launches and expansions in other cities as well.
