Medicine is evolving quickly and the way care is administered changes with new research developments. However doctors, like patients, are inundated with information and cannot keep up with the enormous volume of published research. They often end up educating themselves through dispersed and unreliable information channels. MedNexus was founded to empower physicians to make better clinical decisions by providing high quality information. To realize this vision, we are developing a semantic search engine for Medicine that helps Healthcare professionals (and expert consumers) access the most relevant content. Our recommender system is powered by cutting-edge web analytics and crowdsources user data to refine the search results. The platform will enhance the knowledge of physicians with regard to standards of care and new advances in their field(s) of specialty, and provide clinical decision support, which will translate into better care delivery. We are working on a very exciting problem, both in terms of the technology developed and the bigger issues at stake. We believe information appraisal is one of the main challenges of the 21st century, as the web has enabled access to vast amounts of uncurated knowledge.
