Jobs at Matician

We are starting Matician with desire to solve real, existing problems that make products extremely useful first, cool second. We believe that sensors and algorithms are finally good enough to reimagine home devices from first-principles and reinvent them with Level-5 Autonomy and mobility. We have track record of pushing research boundaries with practical use cases in mind, and this product-focused-research approach has allowed us predict/invest things in 2013 that many companies got to recently. Then we started Flutter (YC W12) which focused on hand-gesture detections via built-in webcams PCs/phones. Our algorithms worked on device (no cloud, no latency) on a single core of CPUs (no GPU) and used 7-10% of CPU at peak. The size of entire algorithm was 800KB while beating state-of-the-art in terms of precision/recall. As fate would have it, Flutter was also acquired by Google 2013 after quantitatively verifying that our algorithms beat what Google had inside in terms of accuracy and efficiency. Inside Google, we helped launch Google Cardboard thru Google Research, and I was a Lead PM for Nest Cam Portfolio where we launched many CV based features with Nest Cam Outdoor before leaving to start Matician.
