Hi there - my name’s Jamie, founder of Marking.ai, and I’m going to tell you a story. I work as a product manager at one of Africa’s largest Online Schools. Last year, the company spent over $2 million dollars outsourcing their marking to get over 150,000 assessment submissions marked. The result - employment of under qualified staff members, poor training and mis-management led to false grades, angry parents and negative publicity. This led me to proceed to validate the idea around an AI driven marking solution for educators. I conducted 30 in-depth customer interviews with a range of educators, and the results were overwhelming. Our goal is to build Marking.ai into the go to SaaS product for educators across the globe, saving them valuable time, which optimizing academic integrity. We want to reshape the education landscape by allowing educators to channel more of their energies to do what they love: Teaching. Having run some high level numbers, the total addressable sits at 85 million teachers globally. A more realistic lens would allow us to reach just over 2 million, where charging $25 a month shows the opportunity to sit at $600 million. We want to harness the power of AI to drive impact in the education space for the better. Marking.ai will give teachers back their late nights and allow them to get back valuable time to focus on setting their students up for success.
