LumiShield offers customers an alternative to cadmium plating based on clean, inexpensive aluminum. In addition to meeting the performance requirements, LumiShield coatings will be comparable in cost and may be produced using the same equipment previously employed in cadmium plating. Contract platers and manufacturers will be able to purchase the license and proprietary plating solution necessary to carry out the process.
