If an activity has a sequence, it can be planned and executed. If an activity has a dependency on another activity, it can be planned but only executed if and when the predecessor activity is completed. Any subsequent activity can be planned, but only executed if it is independent of other activities or its predecessor is completed and so on…. The statements above hold true for virtually everything we do in our personal or professional lives and if we are planning and managing simple things, life is easy. But life isn’t so easy… Interruptions occur, plans change, and those who can adapt, do. Those who do not adapt can be driven into chaos by simple interruptions. Now, compound the issue with tens or hundreds or thousands of activities needing to be planned and executed and we have a real problem at hand.
