At Lightful, we are conscious that as a start-up trying to revolutionise a whole sector, hard work and commitment is a key ingredient of our success. However, we are also very conscious of the flip-side of a ‘work-hard – play-hard’ culture – loss in staff motivation and happiness, poor engagement, impact on work-life balance and in the long run, this doesn’t work for any of us. We know that Wellbeing needs that to be more than just a catch phrase. And equally, we know that it is not something can or should be imposed on people. We all need to take responsibility for our own Wellbeing – but Lightful has a role in six areas in this regard: • To define Wellbeing, and promote it regularly across the organisation; • To include it formally in reviews and check-ins, so that we have early warning indicators; • To provide the right environment and initiatives to promote wellbeing; making it easier to understand and achieve; • To report on Wellbeing through surveys and usage / uptake of Wellbeing initiatives; • To ensure that Wellbeing is embraced by Lightful’s people managers, who lead by example to their reports; and • To regularly ensure that employees aren’t over-stretched.
