We are in the midst of a massive shift in how we write software, from human-driven to data-driven. Data-driven software, or software 2.0, will allow us to realize the true benefits of intelligent robots through deep learning, continual learning, and #reinforcement learning approaches. However, to fully realize these benefits we need a ground up reimagining of computer hardware to make them data & AI centric, and deliver super-computer level performance in the power envelope of the edge.

At Lemurian Labs our purpose is to create better hardware and systems using a software-first approach that enables roboticists and ML engineers to do more, to free them from their computational burdens, and make it easier to get models into production so that society can benefit from more capable & intelligent robots sooner.

We are developing the SPU (Spatial Processing Unit), an affordable AI inference accelerator uniquely designed from the ground up to deliver unprecedented performance/watt (up to 20X that of a GPU) and enable the next generation of AI workloads at the edge, ranging from autonomous vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, industrial robots, healthcare robots, search and rescue robots, to space robots.

The SPU utilizes our patent pending novel arithmetic to speed up matrix-vector computations - which are core to modern day AI - beyond the capabilities of ordinary fixed point cores.

Our diverse team of technologists have decades of experience at the frontiers of asic design, high performance computing, digital arithmetic, cryptography, artificial intelligence, robotics, and networking.
