LEDCity is a Zurich-based cleantech start-up and develops an autonomous plug-and-play lighting system that reduces the energy consumption up to 90% compared to conventional LED tubes.


The Problem:

One and a half nuclear power plants are needed only to power the lights in Switzerland. Up to 30% of a building’s electricity consumption is related to lighting because the average running time of the lighting is 16 h out of 24 h. In addition, 90% of the costs of a lighting system is incurred in operation for electricity and maintenance. Today’s smart lighting cannot solve these problems because there are neither intelligent, user-friendly nor efficient. Consequently, the electricity costs are extremely high and there is a significant high environmental impact.

Our solution:

We can reduce the energy consumption of lighting through automation. We have a highly effective AI-optimized plug and play LED lighting systems which is smart, simple and efficient. In each light are sensors which can adjust light quickly and smoothly. The control unit is decentralized, so there is no need for an expensive management system. This intelligent lighting system enables the collection of over 100 datapoints per light which can be used for several applications and add value to the product. Moreover, it can be used anywhere because of the easy installation and maintain.
