The gold standard of encryption key storage has always been hardware security modules (HSMs). In the on-premise enterprise world, HSMs help transact $Trillions in global currency daily. The infrastructure powering these transactions, and millions of organizations spanning all industries, are moving to the cloud. Unfortunately, HSMs cannot scale to meet this need without a truly scalable, cloud-based key storage platform to leverage.
