Kansas City Community College (KCCC) in Kansas is Kansas City’s primary source of public education at the post-secondary level. KCCC offers associate’s degrees and certificates in various subject areas and disciplines. Many of its associate’s programs are vocational in nature and include subjects such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, Addiction Counseling, Fire Science and Computer Software Technology. However, there are more than 80 associate’s degrees to choose from with some leading to four-year university transfer and some to the workforce. With everything from programs based in the liberal and fine arts to the pre-professional studies options such as pre-law and pre-pharmacy, there is something for everyone. Kansas City Community College also offers career certificates, which take less time to complete than associate’s programs and are designed to qualify one for employment in a specific field. Cosmetology, Video Production, Medical Assisting and Practical Nursing are just a few examples of KCCC’s more than 20 certifications. Many of KCCC’s student organizations are intended to enhance one’s academic and career training. The academic excellence team, audio engineering club, a student nurse association and a club for aspiring teachers are some examples. There are also clubs and organizations that are cultural or recreational and offer an opportunity to meet others of similar backgrounds. KCCC’s student services inlucde a counseling center, a women’s resource center, student health services, child care and a career planning and placement center. Financial aid is also available to those who qualify.
