The Hero’s Journey. T.S. Eliot said, “We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” I think we are all on a hero’s journey. An archetype spanning across all cultures and all time, recognizable in movies, novels, and screenplays: we are called to adventure, we face the unknown, overcome challenges and temptations, and develop new skills and understanding, which we bring back triumphantly to our communities. Promad life is about personal journeys, both outside and inside oneself. It’s not about how much we achieve or how much we have (which is never enough). It’s about seeking out truth and beauty, meaning and fulfillment, which I think exists within each of us.
