VAHEAT is a first technology that allows precise control of temperature directly in the field of view of your light microscope. This is far from trivial with conventional methods that cannot address the problems of immersion objectives acting as heat sink and sample overheating by illumination.

With VAHEAT, the temperature can be changed with rates up to 100°C/s and stabilized down to 0.1°C of set value. The core of VAHEAT are the Smart Substrates, functionalized coverslips, with a sensitive temperature probe and a transparent heating element. A feedback loop with a short time response ensures that the temperature stays precisely at the set value independent of your environment. The device allows programming temperature profiles and is compatible with majority of microscopes and microfluidics.

VAHEAT can help all life scientists to perform temperature-sensitive research but for certain fields it is a breakthrough technology enabling experiments that have not been possible at all.
