33Mil of tons of bio-basted raw materials are wasted every year in Europe.These cheap bio-based residues and wastes could instead be used as feedstocks by all the companies in the nascent sector of the Bio-Economy to produce fuels, fibres, food, feed and chemicals, replacing their fossil fuel equivalents. However, due to the lack of valid sales channels, aggregate data and awareness, for these companies assessing these symbiosis opportunities is very challenging and can lead to missed opportunities.
We want to solve the mentioned problems with InSymbio: a Business-to-Business E-Marketplace for bio-based residues and by-products with bidding processes and analytics. We want to bring together businesses in the Agriculture and Forestry Sectors with businesses in the BioEconomy Sector (bio-based products and chemicals, bioenergy, biofuels, ecc.), in order to create closed-loop systems in which one company’s wastes or residues are another company’s raw material.
