Ignitia is a weather forecasting company providing the most reliable weather forecasts for tropical regions, including West Africa. By creating an algorithm specifically for the tropics at a 3 square km range, our weather forecasts are more than twice as accurate as conventional global weather models. We overcome the need to invest in expensive ground monitoring stations by creating a forecast model that is 97% automated and uses remote sensing, which significantly reduces costs and makes our model easily scalable. Ignitia has developed ISKA, a local weather forecast product based on Ignitia's proprietary model. ISKA delivers daily, monthly, and seasonal local weather forecasts via SMS to over 450k subscribers across West Africa based on their GPS location. The daily message includes a 48hr forecast detailing the likelihood, timing, and intensity of rainfall. Through our accessible, low-cost, last-mile delivery service, Ignitia supports smallholder farmers in daily decision-making.
