The company was conceived in late 2019 and is backed by leading Silicon Valley incubator Y Combinator, who were the first investors in successful startups such as Stripe, Airbnb, Dropbox, Cruise. The company has a world-class team including engineers which have built industrial R&D technologies, having previously worked in autonomous vehicles (Lyft Level 5/Toyota), automotive (AVL, Continental) computer vision (Amazon, Microsoft) and semiconductor-based (Graphcore) companies. Hypermile’s co-founders have PhDs/advanced degrees from Oxford and UCL, have written a best-selling textbook on machine learning, and led ML/computer vision teams at companies such as Mudano (acquired by Accenture) and Pupil. We have won a range of grants including Innovate UK and the EU Commission’s Horizon 2020 and collaborate with industry bodies including CCAV and Zenzic.
