humit app lets users share 30s audio snippets of powerful moments from their favorite songs (along with media in the form of photos, videos, GIFs, caption, etc), which we refer to as “hums”. These hums can then be conveniently sampled by their followers in an endless feed of fresh new music.

On one side, music sharing on mobile is broken — sharing a URL through FB/ Messenger/ Instagram Stories/ WhatsApp means cutting through the clutter, jumping between apps, listening to 6 sometimes 7 min long tracks and there's often no feedback on whether someone liked the recommendation or not. On the other hand, algorithmic recommendations go no further than “here’s another song that sounds extremely similar to the one you just listened to”.

With so many music libraries and messaging options available, sharing music is far more complicated than it should be. While music libraries are great to listen to, they lack compelling social features. Social networks are great for sharing but provide a mediocre listening experience. humit provides an audio-first platform to seamlessly discover and listen to music and podcast suggestions from your peers in one place, agnostic to your streaming platform of choice.
