Eight Eighteen Enterprises is a mission-oriented EdTech startup striving to keep great teachers from leaving the profession by providing classroom management tools that foster efficiency and put time back in the teacher's day. Teachers are leaving classrooms at an alarming rate. More than 15% of educators leave the profession each year in search of alternative careers due to stress created by an overwhelming workload. Currently, 40% of teachers will leave the classroom in the first 5 years of their careers. Schools lose between $1 billion and $2.2 billion in attrition costs yearly from teachers switching schools or leaving the profession altogether. On average, teachers work 10 hours, 40 minutes per day and 53 hours per week of which they are only paid 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week. With no time during the school day, teachers resort to personal time for classroom organization, data analysis, and lesson planning. This is exacerbated by the complexity of meeting educational needs for students with differing socioeconomic backgrounds, ability levels, learning styles, etc. While educational reform targets students, schools and districts, the problems plaguing teachers are often overlooked. Eight Eighteen Enterprises bootstrapped a small founding team and group of 13 freelancers to develop an iOS minimum viable product (MVP) that achieved 5-figure revenues and top-100 Education App rankings in 7 countries, including #44 in USA. To date we have done minimal sales and marketing. We are now raising capital to build out a full internal team to continue the development of the iOS app, add web and android products, and engage in sales/marketing efforts.
