Green Community Consulting, Inc. (GCC) is a Pittsburgh-based social and environmental impact technology startup that aims to make American cities greener and healthier while uplifting historically underserved communities. For decades, corporations have enjoyed unencumbered growth and have returned historic value to shareholders at the expense of our environment and society. In response, legislators frequently pass well-intended laws that are inadequate or misguided. More often than not, it is our underserved communities who disproportionately bear the consequences of environmental degradation and widening inequality. Our team set out to seek solutions based on the lived experiences of people in the community. It’s more than just marketing. Our work is in helping people empower themselves through their stories. GCC is developing a proprietary impact measurement and management (IMM) platform that integrates community-based participatory research (CBPR) with quantitative social and environmental data to empirically measure how organizations impact communities and to conduct community needs assessments. GCC intends to offer its IMM technology to public and private sector clients whose operations impact underserved communities to inform decisions and implement sustainable operations to drive greater economic, social, and environmental value. Our approach primarily differs in two different ways: (1) we offer a hyper-local IMM platform that provides neighborhood-level resolution on an organization's impact and (2) we distill insights from the lived experiences of community members to contextualize and unify seemingly disparate quantitative impact data sources to tell our clients a complete impact story. Our community-centered approach to IMM will help our clients make critical decisions while helping communities empower themselves through their stories. GCC is a public benefit corporation and is pursuing B-corp and community development entity certifications.
