Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

This role will be Full Stack Engineer for the Grants Lab workstream. At Grants Lab we're building the digital public goods infrastructure for a more equitable internet. Our mission is to empower communities to fund and build open-source solutions in a decentralized manner, leveraging blockchain technology to ensure sustainability and inclusivity. We're seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer who shares our passion for open-source development, web3 technologies, and making a lasting impact on the way digital communities collaborate and thrive.

Role Overview

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer in our remote, distributed team, you'll play a critical role in developing scalable, high-availability web applications that bolster our platform's impact. This position demands a high degree of autonomy, the ability to work independently, and exceptional problem-solving skills. You'll be collaborating across time zones, requiring strong communication abilities and a commitment to proactive, clear interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the development of robust, scalable web applications that enhance our platform's ability to support public goods funding and collaboration.
• Utilize advanced web3 technologies to elevate the user experience, ensuring Gitcoin remains at the forefront of blockchain innovation.
• Collaborate effectively with a global, remote team, including product, design, and engineers, to deliver mission-aligned features.
• Optimize UI/UX designs for technical feasibility and performance.
• Actively contribute to the open-source community, reflecting Gitcoin's core values of openness and collaboration.
• Continuously explore blockchain advancements to propose and integrate innovative solutions that align with our ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in developing and maintaining production-level software.
• Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Profound understanding of web protocols, architectures, and agile development methodologies.
• Proficiency in backend technologies, especially Node.js; familiarity with additional frameworks is beneficial.
• Solid experience in relational database systems and integrations.
• Demonstrated ability in smart contract development using Solidity and dApp integration with EVM chains.
• A passion for web3 technologies and a firm belief in the power of open-source and decentralized platforms.
• Scrappy, low ego, self motivated, looking to dive right in.
• Previous experience with managing complex, multi-month projects across internal and external teams.
• This role requires business fluency in English and scheduling flexibility. You’re able to structure working hours within GMT-5 to GMT +1 and accommodate our team working hours from 1pm UTC to 6pm UTC.

• Proven track record of working effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.
• Independent worker with a knack for taking initiative and finding solutions autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging productively with team members across diverse geographies.
• Active engagement with open-source and web3 communities is highly desirable.
