Variant's basic product proposition is that when it comes to experimentation and related best practices, there's a glaring problem of "excluded middle class." While the bellwethers like Amazon and Google have developed well publicized and credible in-house platforms, and the SMBs are reasonably satisfied with the existing SaaS A/B tools, there's around 200,000 enterprise grade B2C and B2B applications out there who are caught in the middle. Their requirements far outpace what the existing tools can or ever will be able to offer, because at the enterprise scale the advantages of the SaaS fade and the shortcomings morph into fatal flaws.
