Gauss’s first application, Triton, uses the iPad to monitor blood loss from digital images of sponges and canisters, with the goal of improving obstetrical safety, reducing unnecessary transfusion, and preventing retained sponges. Triton is FDA cleared and CE marked and has been adopted by over 50 hospitals in the US performing over 200,000 surgical procedures annually. Triton received a 2018 Apple Design Award, which recognizes the best in design, innovation and technology on Apple platforms.
