Four Growers is a Y Combinator Summer 2018 company that has built a harvesting robot for greenhouse farms. We believe that humanity is on the cusp of the 4th agricultural revolution - just as the combine completely revolutionized the way we produce grains, our automation and analytics will completely revolutionize the way we produce fresh fruits and vegetables. We’re a scrappy, lean, talented team who's built the fastest commercial harvesting robot for greenhouses in 2 yrs with less than $1M (others unsuccessful with 5+ yrs and millions of $), converted paid beta customer into additional robots, deployed 1st robot to 2nd farm, and signed $20M+ in Letters of Intent. We’ve recently secured additional funds and are looking to expand the team with highly talented individuals. “Food and agribusiness form a $5 trillion global industry that is only getting bigger. If current trends continue, by 2050, caloric demand will increase by 70 percent, and crop demand for human consumption and animal feed will increase by at least 100 percent. Meeting this demand won’t be easy: for example, 40 percent of water demand in 2030 is unlikely to be met, and more than 20 percent of arable land is already degraded.” Greenhouses, already a $14B market in the USA and EU, alleviate these challenges by producing food with 24x less land use and over 90% less water usage. In addition to their size and growth trends, greenhouses are the perfect entry point because of their high disposition to new technology adoption, and access to large amounts of capital (a 200 acre greenhouse costs ~$280M to build).
