What if a there was a simple, fun, photo-rich social mobile app, like Instagram or Tinder, that could be used to gather data on young people’s emotional health? That is Vibosity. Existing assessment tools are taken once, lack youth friendly interface and are confined to paper. In contrast, Vibosity can be done on mobile or desktop, can be taken daily to track small changes in social emotional state and, most importantly, is designed for young people to assess themselves. Users swipe through photos in response to prompts. The photos that they “like” or “dislike” indicate where they are at the time on our Social Emotional Scale. Youth get a straightforward instant analysis through a photo montage that helps them reflect on their mood and that they can share with others. Vibosity will also be a powerful tool for schools, school districts and youth-serving organizations that struggle with community stressors and violence and strive to improve school and community climate.
