We founded Firemaps in 2021 because as Californians, we know that climate change is happening today, and is putting millions of homes at high wildfire risk. Not only are these homes at risk of being destroyed, they're also increasingly losing access to affordable insurance. The good news is that there are proven techniques such as defensible space and home hardening which homeowners can implement to increase the survivability of their home by up to 2x. However, getting this done is extremely difficult. It's hard to know where to even start when looking into all of the options and deciding what is needed, and it's even harder to source, vet, procure quotes, and manage the contractors needed to get the work done. This results in fines by the government, Firemaps is a mission-driven company with a DNA that combines silicon valley and construction, and is well positioned to capture this opportunity.
